Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F

From TargetWiki

the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F was a Schlachtflugzeug (attack plane) developed from the Fw 190 A fighter. in early 1943 the first 190 A Schlachtflugzeuge were produced as Fw 190 A-4/U3, later designated as Fw 190 F-1.

it was intended to replace the slow and vulnerable Junkers Ju 87 as a close support aircraft over the battle field. with its high speed at low altitude the 190 F was a good choice for that task. it was difficult to intercept and could defend itself against enemy fighters.

equipped with the robust BMW 801 radial engine and additional armour for the pilot and important systems, it could deliver 700 kg bombs in fast short range ground attack missions.
